When I meet women who are interested in going vegan I always get asked about cosmetics, footwear and calcium.
I wear sneakers unless I am with someone special and I am a nutrition buff. I can answer their concerns about preventing osteoporosis, but I can’t tell them much about cosmetics or footwear. Until now.
My friend Julianne told me about this online guide to cosmetics that are made with vegan ingredients *AND* that are not tested on animals.
My friend Stitches also told me about this line of vegan, fair trade, eco-friendly and non-clunky shoes:
Lastly, if your taste in clothing made out of vegan materials is a bit more mainstream than drawstring tightened yoga pants made out of hemp this blog called “The Professional Vegan” can help:

Addendum:
My friend Stitches also told me about these other vegan/vegan friendly shoe sites.
There is her own vegan store Mink Shoes
There is Beyond Sking
Pleaser Shoes has some non-leather styles. They make their shoes in China, but they pay 3 times the going minimum wage there.

I love good shoe talk. Thanks for this post. Though I am not in need of any shoes at the current time and am still wearing my old standbys from years past, I look forward to my first pair of animal friendly foot wear.
I suppose everyone knows about vegshoes.com, right? They are advertised everywhere and the place I thought I would turn for my first pair of cruelty-free foot wear. But as you suggest, many veg shoes for women appear either clunky or fall flat when it comes to dress or style.
Fortunate for me however, a non vegan male friend who lives in NYC and became interested in my non-violent lifestyle found and then introduced me to Moo Shoes, about a year ago. Located in a top city, familiar to most, I thought I was the last to hear of this place. Come to find out, not everyone travels to New York and there are many vegans still unaware of it.
Moo Shoes does offer traditionally styled vegan footwear, but they also have stylish mens and women’s dress shoes as well. Best of all, they are available online as well as at their NY location.
Here is their link should anyone else be interested.http://www.mooshoes.com/
If those are what non-clunky shoes look like, then I’ll take the clunky shoes for me, please.
Hah, yea my professional female, vegan, city friends feel the same why Buzzard. That’s why they tell me they prefer the Karmas, Lucys, Marco Polos, Mariposas, Shiners and one or two others from Moo Shoes.
The link provided above, in the original post, appear to be just as great. I prefer more casual foot wear myself, but some business people require a dressier shoe. It’s wonderful that they have a couple places from which to chose.
