Hosting Events You Will Not Go To

Would you go to a party that the host/hostess wouldn’t be going to him/herself?

I wouldn’t.

My thinking would be that the party couldn’t be all that great if the person who set it up was not going to be there.

I’ve seen this happen a number of times with events run by a volunteer organization in my area.

This morning I was talking with a friend who mentioned an event from a second “organization” where the host did not attend.

It is spreading.

Participating in events you organize is basic to making those events a success.

If you aren’t willing to forgo other options on your time, it is probably a sign you are no longer enthused about the event and should get out of setting it up.

You can do more good by doing things that you have strong enthusiasm for.

If nobody steps up to the plate that probably means that like you, nobody else thinks the event is worth the time. It isn’t valued.

Let me be clear. I do not think poorly of these people, AT ALL. I’m criticizing the action, not the people.
