  1. There is an incorrect assumption that since you’re asking a question for which Google knows the answer that you didn’t in fact ask Google. The issue is in the above cartoon box “plus a few words related to what you want to do.” The thing is, everyone types a different set of a few words, even if you’re up on the micro vocabulary for this narrow domain. Worse than that, Google seems to think that it knows what you want to hear, and wants to tell you that, even if (or because) you’ve already asked that. So even with the exact same query, different people get different answers. DuckDuckGo does not solve all of these problems.

Then there’s the PDF phenomenon. Bring up Google, and type “How do i convert to”, and let it sit there. I used to get … Judaism … Christianity … PDF …, suggesting that PDF was the third most popular religion. I currently get a bunch of image formats, including eps which at least is related to PDF.

So, now i frequently ask for the URL. As a side effect, i’ve learned that youtube can be a great place to get car repair info. There were five short videos that talked about the nuances of putting a starter motor back into a 2000 Saturn SL. Even if you actually had three hands, there’s no way to get three hands into the space. Yes, all five of the videos have hints on how to solve this exact problem, and only one of the suggestions actually worked for me. For the impatient, you need a socket extension (but you needed that to take the unit out) and it helps to put tape around the bolt and jam it into the socket so it stays put while you hold this very dense piece of metal while attempting to thread the upper bolt into the engine. You are threading the upper bolt first, right? I hope you bookmarked the correct video.
