Well, it sounds like they are thriving, doing better than they were before in the absence of human interference. I’ve read newer articles that say that old and poor people are moving back to Chernobyl despite the radiation. They have nowhere else to go, no other resources, and they decided they are old enough that dieing of cancer is not much of a sacrifice.
