Quote of the day:
Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
– Viktor E. Frankl
After wisdom there is peace, freedom, and focus. Before wisdom there is everything else.

I have been thinking how many global climate change deniers there are despite very few of them having educations that would enable them to understand the science and despite that most of the world science community accepts global climate change as a fact.
If I had to put my thoughts about this phenomenon on a bumper sticker I would sum it up like this
If global climate change was politically damaging to the democrats Pat Robertson would be finding passages in the Bible condemning Hummers and President Bush would be calling polluters terrorists
I first heard this quote back in the 90’s. I saw it on the web recently and I like it enough to make it a quote of the day:
“Wanting to reform the world without discovering one’s true self is like trying to cover the world with leather to avoid the pain of walking on stones and thorns. It is much simpler to wear shoes.”
– Ramana Maharshi
The context that I originally heard this quote in was that it is much more rational to learn how to handle yourself psychologically then to demand that that reality change to suit you. Reality tends to change slowly. You can’t change anything until you learn to accept it and truly know what it is.
Much better to have a pair of shoes psychologically, then to try to carpet the world.
