Beans!

Beans taste great, beans have lots of salubrious fiber, beans are loaded with protein, beans are loaded with iron, beans have calcium, and beans have a sundry collection of vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. Beans deliver all of these things, are cheap, and help improve the soil where they are grown.

Beans form the basis of ancient, highly varied cuisines. Beans have a fascinating history.

Beans are cruelty free.

Given all of these things and that I enjoy Dan Pirraro’s Bizarro cartoon, this picture was a good find:

Opposing petition to a petition to Wikipedia

A friend forwarded this petition to me today in an email.

I place a serious amount of value on having respect for other people’s beliefs. However, I do not believe that accommodating other people’s religious beliefs can be limitless. Much of modern society, which I think is great, offends the values of many religions. If a precedent is set that something should not be done if it offends a religious belief, then all of the other religious beliefs out there must be acted on too. The result would be the end of modern society. I do not want that.

I’ve met many Muslims. All of the ones I have met have been honorable and reasonable people. Islam is an honorable religion despite its fringe elements.

However their beliefs are not my beliefs. Wikipedia is a secular institution and should not feel obliged to uphold Islamic law.
