One of the dumbest and most harmful comments to come from a celebrity in a while has come from Will.I.AM in the music group The Black Eyed Peas. Basically, he thinks women who have condoms in their homes are tacky:
Elle: If you walked into a woman’s house, what one item would convince you that you weren’t compatible?
W: If she had condoms in her house, that would just f[—]in’ throw me off. That’s just tacky.
Elle: Well, okay, I could see if she had a candy bowl full of them on the coffee table. But if she’s got a few in a drawer, wouldn’t that simply suggest she’s health-conscious?
W: I just think, like, if you’re into someone and you guys get to that level, then that’s something you should converse about together and say, “Hey, maybe we should get some.”

Yes, condoms in a candy dish on the coffee table is right up there with someone out of school using milk crates as furniture. However, beyond that basic level of taste I take the completely opposite view of this man. If I found condoms in the home of a woman I was interested in I would view that as a good sign.
It may mean she has an active sex life, which may mean she knows what she is doing and that there might be some good things to expect if the relationship works out. Virgins are for dead Al Queda martyrs.
Condoms in the home also means that the woman likely takes care of herself. That would mean she is less likely to have a social disease and would be less likely to give a guy a social disease.
I can’t fathom any informed person in the year 2011 thinking anything negative about anyone having condoms in any capacity. 1952 is calling, it wants its hazardous opinion back.
